Visiting the Registry Theatre

Here are a few useful bits of information to bear in mind when visiting us at The Registry Theatre

There are a broad variety of different events one is likely to see at The Registry, from community presentations to professional music, dance, and theatre productions, to film festivals, cultural gatherings, municipal information sessions, and everything in between!

Registry Presents vs Renting

Some events at The Registry Theatre are presented by the theatre itself, while others are presented by renters/community partners.

FOR REGISTRY EVENTS: Call 519-578-1570 or Buy Tickets Online.  Please note: online ticket sales stop at 5 pm on the day of the performance, though tickets can still be purchased at the door (cash sales only).

FOR RENTER EVENTS: Tickets sales and front of house are organised and administered by the renter/community partner; we advise you to contact them directly, and are happy to help put you in touch with them!

While the theatre does have its own parking lot, there is only space for 3-5 vehicles; this area is typically reserved for theatre employees, artists, and renters.

The Regional lot adjacent The Registry is available for free public parking after 5 pm on week days and all day Saturday and Sunday.

City of Kitchener parking options (find the lots mentioned below on this map):

  • Lot 2, at Queen Street and Goudies Lane, is free after 5pm and all day Sunday.
  • Lot 14 & 19, on Otto St. between Frederick Street and Queen Street by the Centre in the Square, is free after 6pm and all day Sunday UNLESS there is an event at the Centre, in which case there is a flat fee of $10.
  • Parking garage E, entrance on Queen St. South,  next to the Kitchener Library. ~1.50 for every half hour with an all-day maximum of $14.75. On nights when there is an event at the Centre in the Square there is a flat fee of $10.

PLEASE NOTE: This garage closes at 10pm.  After hours access is available at the Ahrens Street entrance.  To access this entrance, turn left after exiting the main theatre doors, then left again between the police station and the municipal administration building.  Press the security call button beside the door to be buzzed in.

Metered street parking is available on Roy and Ahrens Streets (off Weber, across from KPL).

Bus Routes

Grand River Transit Routes 1 & 8 stop at Queen and Weber, right around the corner from the theatre.

Dining before the show? The Registry Theatre would like to recommend the Three Kretans Greek restaurant directly across the street from the theatre (you are welcome to leave your car in their parking lot during the show after dining with them).

The Registry Theatre is fully accessible for persons using mobility assistance devices. Please contact us to coordinate the details of your visit and/or alert the Front of House staff that you require the use of the elevator.
