Here are a few useful bits of information to bear in mind when visiting us at The Registry Theatre
The Registry Theatre is located at 122 Frederick Street in Kitchener. You can reach us by phone at 519-745-6565.
There are a broad variety of different events one is likely to see at The Registry, from community presentations to professional music, dance, and theatre productions, to film festivals, cultural gatherings, municipal information sessions, and everything in between!
Registry Presents vs Rental Events
Some events at The Registry Theatre are presented by the theatre itself, while others are presented by renters/community partners.
FOR REGISTRY EVENTS: Call 519-578-1570 or Buy Tickets Online. Please note: online ticket sales stop at 5 pm on the day of the performance, though tickets can still be purchased at the door.
FOR RENTER EVENTS: Tickets sales and front of house are organized and administered by the renter/community partner; we advise you to contact them directly , and are happy to help put you in touch with them. You can usually find their contact info in the specific event entry on our website.
Parking
While the theatre does have its own laneway, there is only space for a few vehicles; this area is typically reserved for theatre personnel, artists, and renters. Over the weekends and each weekday evening at 5pm the parking lot for the Region of Waterloo building next to the theatre (the ones with bars blocking the entrance) usually becomes an open lot – we advise parking there if there is space. While the bars do lower at 11 pm, any car inside the lot can exit simply by driving slowly toward the bars (they will raise). Free street parking can often be found down Spetz and Scott streets directly across the road from The Registry. Paid parking is available both across the street, underground at the KPL – Main Branch, and in the parking garage on Duke St [the last two being free on Sundays].
Dining
Dining before the show? The Registry Theatre would like to recommend the Three Kretans Greek restaurant directly across the street from the theatre (you are welcome to leave your car in their parking lot during the show after dining with them).
Transit
Grand River Transit’s routes 1, 3, 4, 7, 8, 20, 204, and the ION all have stops within a block or two of the theatre. GO Transit route 30 also stops within a block of the theatre.
Accessibility
Patrons with difficulty navigating stairs can access the theatre via an elevator located around the corner to the right of the building as you look at it from the front (the side of the building facing the old police station). While there is a call button, we recommend letting us know of your arrival in advance via email so we can keep an eye open for you!
COVID Safety
In addition to regular sanitation and abiding by current government protocols, The Registry Theatre is equipped with a UVDI air purification system. Two sets of ultra-violet lights installed in the ductwork eliminate 99.99% of airborne SARS-CoV-2 particles inside the auditorium.
