Bio: Born in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, Sammy Wong is a child prodigy who first picked up a violin at the age of four, and has demonstrated incredible passion for the instrument ever since. At the tender age of six, he gave a riveting performance as a featured artist in a one-hour music special hosted by Judy Maddren from CBC Radio News’ World Report. At the age of seven, he has won numerous RCM Level 10 First Prize awards for his captivating performances at Kiwanis Music Festival competitions and other music competitions across the province of Ontario. At the age of eight, he won numerous RCM Diploma-level First Prize awards and became a RCM Diploma-level medalist at the OMFA Music Championships, one of the highest level of music competition. Sammy has delved deeply into many different types of repertoire, demonstrating his virtuosity across styles from concertos to sonatas to partitas, and is constantly looking for the next musical challenge, be it performing with orchestras (recently with the Stratford Symphony Orchestra) or performing at pop concerts (recently opened for the iconic Lightfoot Band).
This is a free event. All ages.
