Presented by Growing In The Arts School of Dramatic & Expressive Arts

Growing In The Arts is proud to bring to the stage another thought-provoking play which explores the unfortunate consequences of bullying, suicide and the detrimental effects it has on mental health.

Written and directed by Gita Schuster (Yale University School of Drama Directing Program, 38 years’ experience), and co-directed by Hannah Findlay (3rd year English and Women and Gender Studies at Wilfred Laurier University), SCOUT features eleven of the Region’s finest award-winning youth actors.

Synopsis: It’s another May long weekend at the Summerville cottage, where lifelong friends gather for their annual weekend of ‘roughing it’ and youthful antics. But this time, things are different. Struggling to grasp the insurmountable loss of their beloved Scout, the group wrestles with trying to understand suicide, substance use, peer relationships, academic responsibilities, family secrets and. . . new beginnings.

SCOUT is written with relatable mild language and address current subject matter suitable for audiences ages 10 and up with a run-time of 65 minutes.
