June 6 @ 8:00 pm – 11:00 pm
On June 6, 2024, Playground: Festival of New Work will return from its 5-year slumber for Playground Lite: an evening of monologues by area theatre artists. Playground is a new theatre community platform where you can present your next exciting idea.
Submissions are now being accepted from all playwrights, from first timers to seasoned veterans, comedy to tragedy, and all things in-between. This is a safe, open, and inclusive project looking to explore thoughts, ideas, and emotions. An accepting frame of mind is essential.
We love to work with first timers, as much as we enjoy supporting all emerging and established artists. By submitting to our festival, you will join a community of local theatre and performance makers. Please join us, especially if what excites you most is the chance to workshop and produce at the region’s most popular venue: The Registry Theatre!
How To Submit
Deadline for submissions is December 22, 2023. Electronic submissions are highly encouraged and can be sent via email to [email protected]; please include your name and contact information with your submission.
Please submit a one-page excerpt of your monologue. Proposals should be at a first draft stage but not necessarily polished. Tech/production resources will be limited, however please do share as part of your submission any elements that are critical to its realization.
Applications selected for further development will be invited to join a Writer’s Circle that will meet four times from January 2024 through May 2024 to share work, develop ideas, and become part of the production planning team. Works might be produced, read before an audience, or shared in whatever way is of most benefit to the work, and within the means of the overall project.
If you have any questions, you can contact Roberto De Brum, Artistic Director at [email protected].
Our official call for directors, stage managers, designers, and performers will be released separately – please feel free to express your interest in these opportunities with your submission.
We look forward to hearing from you!
